Analisis Ungkapan dalam Adat Reba Bajawa

This study aims to describe the forms, meanings, and functions of expressions used in the Reba traditional ceremony of the Bajawa community. The research addresses three main questions: (1) what forms of expressions are used in the Reba traditional ceremony, (2) what meanings are contained in these expressions, and (3) what functions do these expressions serve in the Reba traditional ceremony. This study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data were collected through observation, interviews with customary elders and community leaders, and documentation during the implementation of the Reba traditional ceremony. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the expressions used in the Reba traditional ceremony consist of three main forms: prayers, songs performed in traditional dances, and ritual expressions. These expressions embody religious, social, philosophical, historical, and kinship meanings that reflect the worldview of the Bajawa people. Furthermore, the expressions serve several functions, namely religious functions as a means of communication with God and ancestors, social functions to strengthen family and community relationships, historical functions as reminders of the community's origins, philosophical functions as representations of life values, and cultural educational functions in transmitting traditional values to younger generations.
