Focus & Scope

Jurnal Alfa: Penelitian, Pendidikan, dan Bahasa is an open-access journal that aims to disseminate knowledge and generate debate on theoretical or real-world research related to education, research, and language, particularly in developing and emerging countries. The topic may range from educational concerns to everyday issues, offering a real contribution to the local community. 

The scope of the study is not limited to education, linguistics, and literature but also includes other disciplines with the caveat of the manuscript's relevance to the English language.

Composition Studies in English  Studies on the development of basic and applied research on the acquisition of English writing skills and the history of the uses and transformation of writing systems and writing technologies.
Discourse Analysis in English Studies on the approach to the analysis of written, vocal, or sign language use, or any significant event (e.g., discourse, writing, conversation, or communicative event).
English Language Learning and Teaching Studies on the practice and theory of learning and teaching English for the benefit of people who are learning and teaching the language.
English Literature Studies on any kind of literary work from any era that was originally published or translated into English or is a staple part of an English subject syllabus.
English Linguistics Studies on analyzing English language form, meaning, and language in context; human language by observing an interplay between sound and meaning; and the social, cultural, historical, and political factors that influence the English language.
English Sociolinguistics Studies on the descriptive study of the effect of any and all aspects of society, including cultural norms, expectations, and context, on the way language is used, and society's effect on language.
English Stylistics Studies on the interpretation of English texts of all types and/or spoken language in regard to their linguistic and tonal style, where style is the particular variety of language used by different individuals and/or in different situations or settings.
English Rhetoric Studies on the art of persuasion and writers' and speakers' capacities to inform, persuade, or motivate particular audiences in specific situations using the English language.
History of English Language Studies on the historical stages of English, which may include origin and development of the language, etymology, reference books, dictionaries and varieties of spoken English.
Sociology of English Language Studies on the effect of the English language on society.
Technical Communication for ELT Purposes Studies on the ways to tailor and convey technical information about applications or regulations relevant to English language teaching or learning to the general public or a specific audience (e.g. subject matter experts, consumers, or end-users).
World Englishes Studies on International English as a concept of the English language as a global means of communication in numerous dialects, and the movement toward an international standard for the language. It is also referred to as Global English, World English, Common English, Continental English, General English, or Engas (English as an associate language).
